It only took us 22 years....

.....to get to the Honeymoon Capital of the World.  Niagara Falls has held that title for 221 years ever since Theodosia, the daughter of the future VP Aaron Burr married and traveled with her husband, a number of servants and nine pack horses to the amazing site.  We arrived much lighter - with two carry on suitcases and two backpacks - no servants or pack horses - just us.  More about what we have been doing for the month of October after these gorgeous pics of Niagara Falls and River.

It was so incredible to see and hear the flow of water in the river and over the falls.  We took a ride on the Maid of the Mist into the falls on the American side and only got a little wet!

We spent time in Texas and Alabama visiting family and friends and going to doctors' appointments.  No pics of friends - we were having too much fun.  A big shout out to Treva, Sonia and Rich, Gail and Randy, Kiki, Grace, and Cory (the Broadcom group) and Kathy and George.  We do however have pics of our favs.

We loved seeing the kiddos and grandkiddos - Conor, Julie, Isaac, Eli and JD, Kalen and Amber (who are fostering a baby and a 4 year old- whew!).  Pics below are of Voodoo Donuts in Austin for our grandson's 15th birthday and a beer and candy pairing with son Conor.

On our drive back to Alabama, we found a cheap hotel rate at a casino in Shreveport, LA.  We only spent some of the savings gambling.  We are huge gamblers - Don lost all $20 and Donna was up $5.  LOL.  Here is a sunrise pic out our hotel window.

We saw this motel sign on our journey but were not sure Dave would let us stay.

Getting back to the present, we are traveling through New York state for the next two weeks.  A stop to see Don's mom is on the agenda.  Be on the lookout for more blog posts in the coming days.

After New York, we're off to DC again for the winter.
