It's 2023!!

Happy New Year!  Where did 2022 go?!?!  It seems like the years are passing by faster.  We like to think it's because we're having so much fun and not because we are getting old!  We celebrated by wearing party hats too small for the top of our head and toasting with a diet Coke!

Our usual gift to ourselves over the holidays is lottery tickets in the hopes of winning some fast cash.  Wouldn't that be exciting!  While we had fun and returned to the store four times with our diminishing winnings to purchase more, it all fizzled out to a big fat 0!  Overall, we spent $131 of our own money, won $137, and scratched off 16 $5 tickets, 52 $3 tickets, and 16 $2 tickets.

The outdoor skating rink was busy including a birthday party with 24 kids that had never been skating before.  Needless to say, it provided us about an hour's worth of entertainment watching the ups and downs (if you get our drift).
The Botanical Gardens near the Capitol were decorated for the holidays with lights and thousands of poinsettias (grown by the staff).  There were also replicas of iconic DC buildings and the annual train display.

We visited the Renwick Art Museum near the White House.

We finally found the street with at least 20 inflatable Minions celebrating the holidays after walking around for hours.
While searching for the Minions, we also found the year round Barbie diorama in the front yard of a DC resident which was decorated for Hanukkah.
This is as close as we got to an ugly Christmas sweater this year.  Donna loves wearing them but we settled for eating one.

Don played basketball with our daughter Alexa last week.
Last but not least, no blog is really complete in Don's opinion without a photo or two (in this case) of his favorite monument - this time at night.

Hope 2023 is filled with love, peace and happiness for you and yours.
