Sorry, sorry, sorry for the loooonnng delay in posting!

Summer is long gone and fall is well underway....well, fall is over for some folks and winter has come.  Donna's family in northern Wisconsin had snow on Halloween!  Guess the kids trick-or-treated in winterized costumes!

Life happens.  Donna's youngest brother passed away and the family held a celebration of life in August.  Rest in peace, Ben!  Say hi to Mom, Dad, and our brother Rich.  Don's 94-year old mom fell and broke her hip and wrist in August.  We spent 3 weeks with her then and another several days at the end of October.  Thankfully, she is doing better, though she will likely not reach the same mobility she had before she fell.

In previous posts we showed photos of us picking fruit.  Here is the last picture - Don picking Cortland apples in Wisconsin.  Of course, Donna made caramel apples with nuts and candy bits.  We no longer can bite the apple while on the stick.  We have joined the ranks of old people and cut slices of the apple from the stick so it's easier to chew..

We went to a sunflower festival at a farm.  Wow, it was amazing!

County fairs abound and are well attended.  We had fun looking at the animals.
That's a chicken?!?!

There was a terrific balloon festival.  We even took a tethered ride.

Visited with family.

The farmer's market was just as good this year as the last time we were here.  The veggies and flowers were phenomenal!

The fall colors in northern Wisconsin come early.  The leaves were already changing at the beginning of September!  By the middle of the month, the drives from Wausau to Tomahawk were spectacular as was the view from the top of Rib Mountain!

As we drove to Texas to visit our son in Austin and to make a short stop in Dallas for doctors' appointments and then on to Madison, Alabama to see our son, we followed the fall colors.  We were able to see the season change to fall several times over 2 months.  However, none were as awesome as those in Wisconsin.

We've arrived in DC already and are stoked to be here for the next five months.  We will leave you with our customary food picture - Don eating a bratwurst at the Wisconsin Marathon County Fair!

We'll post more blogs in a little bit.  There is so much to see and do in our nation's capitol!
