Want to know where we've been?

It's been a while since we posted.  We got lazy.  We use this blog to update our family and friends and to document where we've been for ourselves.  When we're old and gray....oops we're already there.  Better said, when we are sitting in our rockers at the old folks home, we can look back at where we traveled.  That is.... if we remember how to get to our blog!

We'll be brief....we visited some of the same places.... but we experienced some new stuff.

After we left DC in the spring, we picked up Kalen and his family and drove to western Kentucky for the total eclipse.  Wow, how exciting...so exciting that our 2 year old grandson fell asleep!  We did encourage him to wake up for the experience which he semi-did.  Lol!

Next, we went to Dallas for our semi-annual doctor and dentist appointments, to see friends, and to eat at our favorite restaurants - Fernando's Mexican, Handel's Ice Cream, multiple barbecue places and donuts.  Note:  Donna loves Fernando's and Don loves ice cream, barbecue and donuts.  :-)
We stopped at North Haven Gardens - our favorite.  We saw the most beautiful plants and butterflies.

We spent the month of May in Austin this year.  Donna was called for jury duty.  We visited with our son Conor and family.  It was a lot of fun!  We also found a new place to hike - Shoal Creek Greenway.  We've come across these trolls in multiple locations, so it was cool to see one in Austin.  Thomas Dambo from Denmark creates them.  He has even put together a troll map for groupies who want to visit each and every one.
The trail also has a treehouse that Don especially liked!
Here are a few new things that we've been noticing in more than one city.  It's funny to watch the delivery robots get confused.  They start, stop, turn, start, stop, repeat...before going on their merry way.  We've even seen a driverless car stuck in an intersection causing a traffic jam.
First time to see this kind of school bus
We ate some tasty Thai food that was also pretty to look at.
Visited with family on the way to our summer retreat.  Donna's sister Pam and Dan and sister Wanda and Don were stops as we traveled through Illinois.  We were visiting Pam at the same time that the cicadas were visiting her and the town.

Stopped for a couple of nights in Milwaukee, WI.  It was nicer than expected.  The downtown area has been revitalized.  It has apartments on the water complete with boat slips.

There's even a beach!
The Fonz says "Ayyyy!".  Happy Days was set in Milwaukee
Hey, we found Waldo driving from Milwaukee to Manitowoc, WI the home of Cedar Crest ice cream.

They don't give tours but we were able to enjoy a cone in their parlor.

This post updates you on our travels into June.  More to come about our summer retreat.
