We met up with a troll on the trail!

Oops, wrong picture!  This wooden troll is quite famous here in Breckenridge!

We took a gondola and chairlift ride up the mountain last week.  Both rides totaled just over two miles in length with an elevation change of nearly 1700 feet.  First time for Donna - and it was a little freaky for her, but she did it!  Her hands were sweaty after the tight grip on the bar.  Don, even with all of the skiing he did in his younger years, had never gone down the mountain on a chairlift.  He was a little unnerved too.  Here we are on the gondola.

There are no pictures of us on the chairlift.  Neither of us wanted to take our hands off the bar long enough to take one.  Or worse yet, drop our camera and have to walk back up the mountain to retrieve it.  You will have to be okay with a picture of other people on the chairlift.
In our last blog, we showed you the wild dandelions that are everywhere and so pretty.  This time, we'll show you trees around the area that could be Christmas trees.  We don't think the town would appreciate us cutting one down to celebrate Christmas in July.  Can you spot the perfect Charlie Brown tree?!?

Here are a few pictures of the beautiful scenery as we hike around Breckenridge.

There is still snow up high on the mountain at the end of June.  We wonder if it will completely melt before the first snowfall of the ski season.
The ski patrol hut is near the top of this mountain.

No blog is complete without a beer picture.  Just an FYI, we only have about one beer per week.  Here we are at Fatty's Pizzeria.

Only a couple more weeks here before our Amtrak train ride through the Rockies.  Can't wait!
