It's 2023!!

Happy New Year!  Where did 2022 go?!?!  It seems like the years are passing by faster.  We like to think it's because we're having so much fun and not because we are getting old!  We celebrated by wearing party hats too small for the top of our head and toasting with a diet Coke! Our usual gift to ourselves over the holidays is lottery tickets in the hopes of winning some fast cash.  Wouldn't that be exciting!  While we had fun and returned to the store four times with our diminishing winnings to purchase more, it all fizzled out to a big fat 0!  Overall, we spent $131 of our own money, won $137, and scratched off 16 $5 tickets, 52 $3 tickets, and 16 $2 tickets. Season's Greetings...Merry Christmas...Happy Hanukkah...Happy Kwanzaa...Joyeux Noel...Feliz Navidad or whichever other holiday you celebrate. Wishing you joy and peace now and in the new year!

Our first few days were spent stocking the hotel room with stuff - mostly food.  The grocery store is a mile and a half away, so it was important that we buy a rolling shopping cart again.  Even with our new shopping cart, it took us several trips.  On our treks to the store and sightseeing, there was still fall color to spot. And interesting architecture. And even a protest march.... We've hiked Rock Creek Park a few times so that we can get some exercise with some elevation change.  We need to burn all of the calories we are eating (cookies, chocolate, chips, ice-cream, you name it....) Note the frost on the fallen leave...
