We left New York the day after Memorial Day. Can't believe Don will actually get up before 6:00 am even though he is retired. Guess he's as antsy as me to get on the road. We're having a lot of fun taking in new sights and doing things for the first time.
Pictures from the road.
Forgot to take pictures of the great Vermont food and rustic atmosphere at the restaurants. No excuse other than our stomachs were growling and could thing of nothing but chowing down. Sugar and Spice Restaurant had great pancakes with you guessed it - Vermont maple syrup. The soft serve maple ice cream was tasty too! Next time, we will ignore the stomach growls until we take a few snaps of the local fare.
We drove to Woodstock to see one of the dairy farms with an attached museum. Decided not to pay the $16 per person admission, so all you get to see of that trip is a picture of us in front of a pasture with a few cows. Sorry the cows are far away. Lol!
We made a stop at the University of Vermont's Morgan horse farm in Middlebury. We drove through a wooden covered bridge to get there.
The horses were excited to see people after the farm closed to visitors last year due to covid and just reopened on the first of June. We had a blast watching them perform for us. The tour guide was friendly. We could tell she loves horses. These horses can be traced back to the original horse named Figure later renamed to his owner's name Justin Morgan. It was well worth the stop and the $8 per person admission.
Avenger loved his time in the paddock as you can see in the video below.
Stay tuned for our next blog. We have some spectacular pictures of our hikes around Rutland and the surrounding mountains.
